La realidad inclusiva del tiempo (The Inclusive Reality of Time)

Lee Smolin y Roberto Mangabeira Unger han desarrollado (en 'The Singular Universe and the Reality of Time', 2015) un enfoque evolucionista sobre la cosmología cuyas consecuencias se extienden a muchos aspectos de las ciencias duras, en forma de una perspectiva evolutiva sobre la física y las matemáticas, y una crítica de la naturaleza de los objetos ideales atemporales. Este artículo hace accesibles en español algunas de estas nociones, y propone además desarrollar la convergencia entre las ciencias físicas evolucionistas y la teoría narrativa. Esta perspectiva complementaría de modo útil la luz que arrojan Unger y Smolin sobre la complejidad, dado que la narración se ha ido formando en tanto que instrumento cognitivo con unas capacidades únicas dirigidas para la representación de procesos de desarrollo contingentes y complejos, y con los acontecimientos singulares que de ellos resultan.

English Abstract:

THE INCLUSIVE REALITY OF TIME:

Lee Smolin and Roberto Mangabeira Unger have developed (in 'The Singular Universe and the Reality of Time', 2015) an evolutionary approach to cosmology with wider consequences extending into many aspects of the hard sciences, resulting in a major evolutionary perspective on physics and mathematics, and a critique of the nature of ideal timeless objects. This paper makes some of these notions accessible to a Spanish readership, and puts forward a proposal for an increased convergence of evolutionary physical science and narrative theory. This is a perspective which would usefully complement the insights on complexity presented by Unger and Smolin, given that narrative is a cognitive instrument uniquely crafted in order to deal with complex and contingent processes of development and the singular events resulting from them.
