Va acercándose a su fin mi carrera, y también mi vida. Por suerte esta ominosa constatación se ve jalonada por pequeñas compensaciones, como por ejemplo mi selección para el Premio del Logro al Trabajo de Toda Una Vida Albert Nelson Marquis, en su edición de 2018, concedido por la empresa y editorial de biografías Marquis Who's Who:








Ya antes tuvieron la atención, hace años ya, de incluirme en Who's Who in the World. Y ahí, o aquí, seguimos.

¿Alguien me subvenciona un premio?

Hace muchos años que figuro en el Who's Who in the World, una empresa que vende caro el prestigio que da, y que no es de despreciar. Es agradable saber que me han concedido un premio—al conjunto de mi carrera profesional, for what it's worth. Esto ya me suena a preludio de la jubilación. Así que jubilate:

Observen la tarifa. Me gustaría tener un premio, ciertamente (la redacción de la carta no deja claro si ya lo tengo de hecho y en efecto). Pero no me parece elegante pagármelo yo mismo. Por eso solicito a algún sponsor, admirador o benefactor que se haga cargo de los gastos y pequeños detalles, permitiendo así que reciba mi premio en condiciones y sin que me cueste (encima) dinero.

Oigan, no se me rían, que un premio es un premio. ¿O igual se piensan ustedes que la candidatura a un Premio Nobel sale gratis et amore, y que no lleva sus lobbies, sus reuniones de comités  y su papeleo? No me sean tan ingenuos.

Si no me la subvenciona nadie (mi universidad, por ejemplo, o el Ministerio, o la Asamblea Nacional de Cataluña), lamentablemente tendré que quedarme con la nominación, que aquí consta, sin hacerla efectiva en efectivo. Porque no está uno para ir gastando el dinero en hacer currículum, bastante pierde el tiempo, que también es oro.
