Examinamos las implicaciones evolucionistas de dos conceptos clave de Adam Smith, la mano invisible y elespectador imparcial, así como los elementos que tienen en común, y sus retroalimentaciones mutuas. Se pretende así entender mejor el origen de la idea de conciencia, de la idea de Dios, y de la idea de Selección Natural. O, puesto de otro modo, se trata de explicar el origen de Dios como resultado de la selección natural. También observaremos al pasar ciertas funciones de la religión en la vida social y en la psicología (occidental), así como las raíces profundas y consecuencias lejanas de la sociabilidad dramatística a la hora de entender la naturaleza humana y sus creaciones culturales.

English abstract:

The Natural Selection of the Imaginary Spectator

This paper examines the evolutionary implications of two key concepts in Adam Smith, the Invisible Hand and the Impartial Spectator, as well as their common ground and mutual feedback. The aim is a better understanding of the origin of the idea of conscience, of the idea of God, and of the idea of natural selection. Or, put otherwise, an explanation of the origin of God as a result of natural selection. We will also note in passing some of the functions of religion in (Western) social life and psychology, as well as the deep roots and far-reaching consequences of dramatistic sociality in the the understanding of human nature and its cultural productions.
