    Este artículo examina el concepto de la realidad humana en tanto que entorno virtual generado por el cerebro. Debido a la historia evolutiva del cerebro humano, a su estructuración peculiar, y a la coevolución del cerebro y de la cognición simultáneas con el desarrollo del lenguaje, nuestro entorno está conformado en gran medida mediante estructuras cognitivas y lingüísticas culturalmente adquiridas. Las teorías de Deacon a este respecto se discuten en relación a las de otras contribuciones recientes (Kenneally, Bickerton, Jaynes, Chomsky).

 

The Cavern in the Brain: Language as Virtual Reality

This paper discusses the notion of human reality as a virtual environment generated by the brain. Due to the human brain's structure, its evolutionary history, and the simultaneous co-evolution of the human brain and cognition with the development of language, our environment is shaped to a great degree by culturally acquired cognition and linguistic structures. Deacon's theories in this respect are discussed in relation to other current contributions (Kenneally, Bickerton, Jaynes, Chomsky).
