IELTS to Conduct In-Person Exam in India
Since the outbreak of the global pandemic covid-19, IELTS has closed its exam center worldwide. According to recent updates, the board has started conducting tests amidst the stressful situation.
There are 140 countries where the IELTS test centres exist. Initially, there were 48 functional centers. Due to the global spread of the virus considering the safety issues, the board initially shut all the centers temporarily. However, there is a lot of demand from test takers whose admission process in native English-speaking countries is at hold due to the closing IELTS test centres. Since lockdown is uplifted in many countries depending upon the situation, IELTS have now permission to run a few centers in some countries. IELTS decided to narrow down 48 functional test centers to test 20 centers in India. British council, the official in charge of the IELTS exam, has announced that the safety of test-takers is their priority and were also aware of the problems faced by tests that occur due to the non-availability of test centers. In India, places such as New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Vadodara, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Noida Surat, Kochi, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Vijayawada. These test centres will be available for test-takers. Subject to availability of date and time slot.
Procedure For Test-Taking
Candidates interested can fill an online application from the official website. All the board has decided to conduct a personal test. They have set the limitation of having tests once a week. The British council has laid out some guidelines for fellow test-takers for you to have a safe exam. All the details related to safety guidelines have been announced. IELTS has also provided an option that candidates can choose without compromising their health and their family members' health. IELTS indicator the provision allowed for candidates to take online exams at the comfort of their home. However, the council also clarified that only at the places where it is physically impossible to conduct in-person tests have access to take IELTS Indicators.
The indicator is not a permanent solution. After the availability of centers, candidates may be asked to take a retest. The places where they have allowed for the IELTS test centres to open and execute the in-person examinations candidates must visit the centre and take tests. In further clarification, the council explains the standard of the exam has not been compromised. In the speaking session, professional examiners are trained to take tests via video call. All the procedures of reviews remain the same. They also request candidates to have more patience as there might be delays in carrying out the process due to the non-functioning of all their resources.
IELTS said in an announcement that they are trying their level best to function like the olden times, but they are obligated by rules and restrictions made by the local governments. The candidates that whichever place got the allowance from the local authority already started to function to cater to the needs of exam takers.
Safety Guidelines to be Followed to Take In-person Examinations:
All the candidates have to abide by the basic safety and hygiene rules, such as washing their hands frequently and using sanitizers. Wearing a mask other than identification purposes is mandatory. Not just apply to the test takers but also the examiners and helping staff. IELTS has waived off the rescheduling fees now candidates can postpone rescheduling if they are facing any health issues such as cough, cold, heavy breathing, or any other symptoms of covid-19. In case any candidate is tested positive who cannot take the test, a complete refund is promised. Following all the security guidelines, there is no threat for willing candidates.
