You are quite wrong on the "Catalan vote" and the "brutal repression" of the Spanish government. What we've got in Catalonia is, quite alarmingly, a mix of supremacist local Nazis and terminally corrupt local officials subverting the law and expecting that nobody should complain or act. Is that your assumption as well, should Manhattan declare its independence from the USA under such a coalition?
