Abstract:The concept of 'the interiorization of interaction' in contemporary psychology is much indebted to Sigmund Freud. There are notable precedents, like Nietzsche, who formulate a theory of the constitution of the subject through interiorization, but Freud's theory of the complexity of mind is largely based on the notion of interiorization. _____________________________________________________________

Tragedy and the Oedipal Subject: Shakespeare (and Freud)

Notes on the second half of Nicholas Ray's book Tragedy and Otherness: Sophocles, Shakespeare, Psychoanalysis—a reading of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, with some interesting dimensions for the student of retroprospective action. The relationship to the Freudian project is rather indirect, but the chapter stands on its own strength as an outstanding reading in the deconstructivist mode.

English abstract: The and practice of the Oedipus complex, and other episodes relative to Freud's life and his relation with the figure of the Sphinx, amount to a curious case of ironic enigma or self-fulfilling prophecy, one which moreover is already anticipated in the classical myth of Oedipus, or appears to be irresistibly invited by it. A retropost from 2011.

Archive Fever

"Is he not investing in useless expenditure? Is he not in the process of mobilizing a ponderous archiving machine (press, printing, ink, paper) to record something which in the end does not merit such expense? Is not what he is preparing to deliver to the printers so trivial as to be available everywhere?"

"No, the technical structure of the
archiving archive also determines the structure of the archivable content even in its very coming into existence and in its relationship to the future. The archivization produces as much as it records the event. This is also our political experience of the so-called news media."

Y sin embargo...

"We will always wonder what, in this
mal d'archive,
he may have burned. We will always wonder, sharing with compassion to this archive fever, what may have burned of his secret passions, of his correspondence, or of his 'life'. Burned without him, without remains, and without knowledge. With no possible response, be it spectral or not, originary or secondary, without a name, without the least symptom, and without even an ash."
