El Momento Fílmico: De Hamlet a Saraband
English Abstract:
The Filmic Moment: From Hamlet to Saraband
The 'filmic moment' is a sequence of peculiarly intensive self-reflexivity in a film, in which the filmic codes are used in a striking, complex and often paradoxical way, to provide an intensive cognitive experience of immersion and involvement in the film's represented world and representational mode through the use of visual and experiential paradoxes and metafictional mirrorings. The concept is modeled after J. Hilllis Miller's notion of the 'linguistic moment' in literary analysis. Some examples of 'filmic moments' are analysed in this paper, notably dealing with Shakespeare films and with Bergman's Saraband.
