En 1988 o 1989, cuando estaba estudiando en aquella universidad norteamericana de la Ivy League, no me recuerden cuál, escribí dos artículos sobre The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abyssinia, novela filosófica de Samuel Johnson. Por extraño que pueda parecer, aunque escribí dos artículos sobre Rasselas, no son el mismo. Los dos están en inglés: no creo que pueda reunir ánimos para traducirlos un día, pero si lo hago aquí pondré los enlaces también.
Del primero me había olvidado, y no estaba en red: pero hoy mismo lo escaneo, digitalizo y electrifico. Se titula "Samuel Johnson's Rasselas: The Duplicity of Choice and the Sense of an Ending"; apareció en la Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses 19/20 (1989-1990): 75-99. Ahora lo enredo en una cómoda versión iPaper en Academia, de donde también se puede bajar el PDF. Y, sucesivamente, en PDF también lo cuelgo en el SSRN y en Zaguán.
El otro artículo se titulaba "'The Enthusiastick Fit': The Function and Fate of the Poet in Samuel Johnson's Rasselas" apareció en Cuadernos de Investigación Filológica 17.1 (1991): 103-26. Y de ahí pasó a la red hace años:
en mi sitio (html), en Dialnet (PDF), en Zaguán (PDF), y en Academia (iPaper, PDF); añado otra en el SSRN (PDF).
